Patrick Gilligan is Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Product for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, the largest private health plan in Massachusetts and one of the largest independent, not-for-profit Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in the country. The company has more than $7 billion in revenue, serves nearly 3 million members, and is rated among the nation’s best health plans for overall member satisfaction and quality.
Pat is responsible for all of the health plan’s commercial market-facing functions, leading product development, management, and strategy; and brand management, marketing, and sales. In addition, he oversees our specialty benefits offerings, our health engagement programs and Zaffre Investments – which invests in companies that are developing new products, services, and technologies that aim to improve health care.
He first came to Blue Cross in 2007 as Senior Vice President of Health Care Contract Management. Pat was responsible for developing and executing our provider contracting strategy and for successfully implementing our Alternative Quality Contract, a payment reform initiative that has received national recognition.
Before rejoining our company in 2015 in his current role, Pat was Senior Vice President for Health System Alliances at CVS Health. Earlier in his career, he was Vice President for System Contracting and Contract Finance for Partners HealthCare in Boston.
Patrick received a B.A. in mathematics from the College of the Holy Cross.
